Abu Dhabi‘s announces new FIFA approved pitches for winter training & competitions

Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) announced 2 new FIFA approved football training pitches at the Leaders Sports Business Summit in London, where it is promoting the Sport in Abu Dhabi program.
As an official partner of Leaders Week, Sport in Abu Dhabi showcases the Emirate as a global capital of sport for teams, federations, governing bodies, athletes and fans. Created by Abu Dhabi Sports Council to drive sports tourism in the Emirate,.the new initiative is promoting all Abu Dhabi’s major venues and events. The new pitches are being built at Zayed Cricket Stadium as part of a new multi-sport offer and refurbishment.
The 18,000 capacity Zayed Cricket Stadium, is undergoing major renovation. The two new grass football pitches have been constructed for the 2017 FIFA Club World Cup where they will be used as training pitches. New multi-purpose courts are also being added for netball, tennis and basketball, whilst the Zayed Cricket Academy facilities are also being upgraded. 8 existing wickets are being renovated, while 17 grass and 8 AstroTurf cricket nets are being installed alongside new changing rooms as well as office facilities. As part of a wider relationship with Abu Dhabi Sports Council, new 500-lux LED Musco floodlights are being installed on the two nursery ovals, allowing for evening matches and community cricket.
